An Orlando budget comes down to five big lines: lodging, park tickets, getting around, food, and the trip to Florida itself. That last one depends on whether you fly or drive and where you start, so it stays out of the math. Everything else is worked out below from official prices checked on October 6, 2026, for two adults and two kids aged 10 and 11, staying 7 nights.

Ticket prices are the lowest on the calendar. On busy dates the same line goes up. We kept a full week of groceries even on days with meals out: the extra covers snacks, water and park drinks.
How much does lodging cost in an Orlando vacation home?
At Orlando Best Place homes, the median nightly rate over the next 12 months is $162, before cleaning and taxes. For four people, a 1 to 2 bedroom home has a median of $139 and a 3 to 4 bedroom home $222. The table by home size on this page also shows the per person figure.
On top of the nights you pay a cleaning fee and the county lodging tax: 13.5% in Osceola (Kissimmee), 12.5% in Orange (Orlando) and 12% in Polk (Davenport), per the Florida Department of Revenue forms DR-15TDT and DR-15DSS. A full week with cleaning and tax is worked out in how much it costs to rent a vacation home in Orlando.
How much are Orlando theme park tickets for a family?
A 1-day Disney World ticket starts at $119, and the 4-day ticket starts at $124 a day. At Universal, the Special 3-Day Ticket gives one day at each park (Epic Universe, Universal Studios and Islands of Adventure) and starts at $297. The 3-day Park-to-Park ticket with one Epic Universe day starts at $357. All of these are before tax.
Florida law taxes admissions at 6%, and Orange County adds a 0.5% surtax, so the table uses 6.5%. The exact amount shows in each park’s checkout.
Disney’s listed prices are for ages 10 and up. Ages 3 to 9 buy a child ticket, priced at checkout, and kids under 3 don’t need a ticket. That is why our example uses kids aged 10 and 11. Where to buy, Park Hopper and the fine print are in where to buy Disney World and Universal tickets.
What does getting around Orlando cost?
If you fly in, a rental car costs the daily rate plus Florida’s $2 a day surcharge, gas, tolls and parking. We left the rental rate out of the table because we found no published price on an official rental company page. It moves with dates, car class and how early you book.
Parking. Disney and Universal charge $35 a day, tax included. At Disney, one payment covers all four parks that day, and the water parks and Disney Springs have free standard parking. Disney preferred parking costs $50, $55 or $60 depending on the date. Universal Prime runs $50 to $60.
Tolls. Central Florida toll roads are cashless. On the CFX rate chart in effect since July 1, 2026, each plaza charges a 2-axle car $0.28 to $2.22 with a transponder, and CFX doubles that for Pay By Plate. Renting at Orlando International? The free Visitor Toll Pass charges only the tolls at the lowest rate, with no service fee. Avis e-Toll Unlimited, by comparison, runs $10.99 to $25.99 a day with a weekly cap of $54.95 to $181.93, depending on the location. More in how tolls work in Orlando.
If you’d rather not drive at all, compare the cost of rideshares in is Uber worth it in Orlando.
How much more does it cost to drive to Orlando?
Driving in swaps the rental car and airfare for gas and miles on your own car. For the week of October 5, 2026, regular gas averaged $3.97 a gallon in Florida, according to the U.S. Energy Information Administration. A car that gets 25 mpg burns 4 gallons every 100 miles, about $15.88 at that price.
Your own SunPass works on Florida toll roads, so the rental company toll programs don’t apply. Families driving down from Georgia or the Carolinas can drop the rental car line from the table entirely. Once you arrive, the rest of the budget is the same: parking, tickets, food and the house.
How much should you budget for food in Orlando?
Cooking at home costs a fraction of eating out. Under the USDA’s lowest-cost plan, a full week of home-cooked food for this family cost $243.70 in August 2026, using the U.S. average. Under the Moderate plan, $330.90.
For restaurants, the official benchmark is the federal per diem the government pays its employees in Orlando: $20 for breakfast, $22 for lunch and $33 for dinner, per person. Four people eating lunch and dinner out spend $220 a day at that rate. Two days like that ($440) cost more than a full week of groceries on the Moderate plan.
Taxes differ too. In Florida, grocery food is exempt from sales tax. Prepared meals, hot food, soft drinks and candy pay the 6% state rate plus the county surtax: 6.5% in Orange, 7% in Polk and 7.5% in Osceola. Then there is the tip.
A vacation home has a full kitchen, and that is where families save: breakfast and dinner at home, snacks in the backpack. Stores near each resort area are listed in where to buy groceries near Orlando vacation rentals.
In practice: build a spreadsheet with the five lines from the table and fill it in with your real dates. Start with tickets on the official park sites and the house, since those are the biggest lines. Then decide how many meals out your family really wants: that is the line that most separates a low budget from a high one.
How can you lower the cost of an Orlando trip?
The three changes that move the total most are the number of park days, meals out and the size of the house.
- Fewer park days. Disney’s per day price drops starting with the 5-day ticket, but every park day adds a ticket and parking. A pool day at the house between two park days costs almost nothing.
- One parking payment per day. At Disney, hop parks the same day without paying again. At Universal, standard parking is free after 6 p.m., except at Epic Universe, on Halloween Horror Nights event nights and on New Year’s Eve.
- Share a bigger house. Two families in one home split the nightly rate, cleaning and even a car. At Orlando Best Place homes filled to capacity, the median per person per night is $25. See how to plan it in how to plan a group trip to Orlando.
Once you have dates, search homes to see the final price of each home, with cleaning and taxes, before you pay.
