When is the 4th of July holiday in 2027?
July 4, 2027 is a Sunday. At EPCOT, Heartbeat of Freedom is a fireworks finale that follows Luminous The Symphony of Us, the nighttime lagoon show. In 2025 it was a July 4 exclusive. In 2026, Disney also scheduled a U.S. Air Force Reserve flyover over Magic Kingdom and EPCOT at 10:30 a.m. on the 4th, weather permitting.

Where to see free 4th of July fireworks in Orlando and Kissimmee?
The biggest free shows are the city ones, each on a lakefront. Check the current year’s details before you go.
Lake Eola, Orlando. Fireworks at the Fountain reached its 49th edition in 2026. The festival ran from 4 to 10 p.m., with the Orlando Concert Band at 8 p.m. and fireworks at 9:10 p.m. The city noted that weather could delay or cancel the program and suggested the free LYMMO downtown circulator for anyone parking farther out.

Can you set off fireworks at an Orlando vacation rental on July 4th?
State law says yes. Your HOA, the county and the house rules can still say no.
Florida Statutes section 791.08 lists July 4 among three designated holidays when consumer fireworks are allowed, solely during the holiday. The same law leaves local ordinances in place and respects a properly recorded HOA declaration of covenants. If the ban is written there, it stands. Counties can also declare burn bans when conditions turn dry. We walk through the HOA details in what New Year’s Eve in Orlando is like.
As a guest, you have no way to check the resort covenants yourself. Ask our team before you buy anything.
The risk is real. The U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission counted at least 15 deaths and an estimated 13,000 emergency room injuries from fireworks nationwide in 2025. Sparklers alone caused about 1,300 of them, and they burn at around 2,000 °F (1,100 °C). The CPSC’s own advice: the safest way to celebrate is to leave fireworks to the professionals.
What is the weather like in Orlando on July 4th?
Hot, with a good chance of an afternoon thunderstorm. National Weather Service Melbourne normals put the July 4 high at 92 °F (33 °C) and the low at 73 °F (23 °C). The record for the date is 98 °F (37 °C), set in 1936.
July is peak lightning season in Florida, and storms tend to build in the afternoon. At any outdoor event, follow the National Weather Service rule:
- When thunder roars, go indoors. Lightning can strike up to 10 miles (16 km) from a storm.
- Real shelter means an enclosed building or a hard-top vehicle.
- Wait 30 minutes after the last thunder before heading back out.

How crowded is Orlando over July 4th weekend?
Very. AAA projected 72.2 million Americans would travel during the 2026 holiday period, June 27 through July 5, and ranked Orlando the No. 2 domestic destination behind Seattle. In 2025, Orlando was No. 1.
If you are driving down from Georgia or the Carolinas, timing matters. For 2026, AAA flagged Thursday July 2, Friday July 3 and Sunday July 5 as the busiest travel days, with 3 to 6 p.m. the worst hours.
At the parks, Disney notes that entry is subject to each park’s capacity limits, and standard tickets require choosing a start date at purchase. Buy ahead and arrive early on fireworks night. The calmer weeks of the year are in the least crowded times at Orlando parks.
For lodging, the median nightly rate of Orlando Best Place homes over the next 12 months, before cleaning and taxes, is $162. The priciest month in that window is June 2027, at a median of $192. Seasons are compared in Orlando peak and off season.
How to celebrate July 4th at a vacation home safely?
Pool by day, cookout at home, fireworks watched from a safe distance. A simple plan:
- Shop by Saturday the 3rd. Burgers, drinks and ice for Sunday.
- Swim before the storm. At the first rumble of thunder, everyone out of the pool.
- Fireworks only with the rules confirmed. Ask our team and check for a county burn ban that week.
- Keep kids away from sparklers. The CPSC recommends keeping a bucket of water or a hose nearby and never relighting a dud.
- Want a show? Head to a free one, like Lakefront Park, with a sober driver or a rideshare.
In practice: with a big group, keep the 4th for the house: pool in the morning, lunch at home and a drive out in the early evening to the nearest free show. Save the park fireworks for Saturday the 3rd, if Disney repeats the three-night run in 2027.
