What to do in Kissimmee?

Quick answer

Kissimmee has enough for several days away from the theme parks: the Saturday night classic car cruise at Old Town, free entry at Fun Spot, alligators at Gatorland, an airboat ride on Lake Toho, sunset at Lakefront Park and the dinner tournament at Medieval Times. Most of it sits a few minutes from the vacation homes.

Kissimmee is the Osceola County city just south of Orlando, and it is where most of the area’s vacation homes are. Experience Kissimmee, the local tourism office, calls it the “Vacation Home Capital of the World.” If you stay here, many of the best things to do on a non-park day are a few minutes from your driveway, with no need to fight traffic on International Drive.

Is Old Town Kissimmee worth it?

Yes, especially on a Saturday night. Old Town is an 18-acre open-air district with more than 70 shops, restaurants, bars and rides, according to Old Town. It sits on US 192 about 1 mile east of I-4 exit 67.

The car calendar is the main draw. Per the official schedule:

  • Saturday: Classic Car Show & Cruise for cars built before 1985. Cars start arriving at 1 PM and the cruise down the brick streets kicks off at 8:30 PM. Up to 250 cars can take part.
  • Friday: Muscle Car Show & Cruise from 3 PM, with the cruise at 8:30 PM. Watching is free.
  • Wednesday: bike night from 6 to 10 PM.

Old Town is open daily, 11 AM to 9 PM Sunday through Thursday and 11 AM to 11 PM on Friday and Saturday. Rides include a Ferris wheel over 85 feet tall, the Hurricane roller coaster and the Mortem Manor haunted attraction.

On parking: the lots behind the buildings are free. The large lot next door, off Florida Plaza Blvd, charges $11 per car plus fees, according to the official parking page. On cruise nights, get there early.

Where can you see alligators and take an airboat ride in Kissimmee?

The two easiest options are Gatorland and an airboat ride on Lake Tohopekaliga, better known as Lake Toho.

Gatorland. It is on South Orange Blossom Trail, between Kissimmee and Orlando (the official address is Orlando). It has been around for more than 70 years and bills itself as the “Alligator Capital of the World.” It opens daily from 10 AM to 5 PM, rain or shine, holidays included. A single-day pass is $34.99 for adults (13 and up) and $24.99 for kids 3 to 12, plus tax, and buying online saves $3. Parking is free. The park also has zip lines, like the Screamin’ Gator Zip Line; check their price on the website before you go.

Airboat on Lake Toho. An airboat is a flat-bottom boat pushed by a big fan, built to skim across marshes. Boggy Creek Airboat Adventures runs out of Southport Regional Park, an Osceola County park on the south shore of Lake Toho. The Kissimmee lakes are the headwaters of the Everglades, so gators and wading birds are a common sight. Per the official site, the half-hour tour costs $34 to $41, the one-hour tour $54 to $61, and there are sunset and night tours. It opens daily from 9 AM to 5 PM, and parking is free.

What are free things to do in Kissimmee?

You can fill a whole day without paying admission. A few ideas:

  • Kissimmee Lakefront Park. The city says the park sits between historic downtown and the shore of Lake Toho, and it is open daily from 7 AM to 10 PM. It has a playground, a splash pad, a fishing pier, paved trails, a lighthouse and the Monument of States.
  • Old Town. Walking around and watching the Friday and Saturday car cruises costs nothing.
  • Fun Spot. Admission is free if you are not riding, and so is parking.
  • Celebration. The town was originally developed by The Walt Disney Company. Market Street has brick streets, shops and restaurants, and Experience Kissimmee mentions more than 10 miles of nature trails and a lakeside promenade.

What to do in Kissimmee at night?

At night, the strongest options are Medieval Times, Old Town and Fun Spot.

Medieval Times. The castle is on W. Vine St. in Kissimmee. The show runs two hours, with knights, jousting, sword fights and Pure Spanish horses, while a four-course dinner is served. Tradition says you eat with your hands, but silverware is available on request. List price was $78.95 per adult and $47.95 per child in October 2026, and gratuity is not included.

Old Town and Fun Spot. They are neighbors: Old Town’s big parking lot is right across from Fun Spot. The Fun Spot Single Day Fun Pass is $59.95 plus tax and covers unlimited go-karts, coasters and rides. The SkyCoaster, which Fun Spot calls the world’s tallest at 300 feet, costs extra. Fun Spot hours vary by day, so check the park calendar before you head out.

Promenade at Sunset Walk. Next to Margaritaville Resort Orlando, it has restaurants, bars and evening entertainment.

The full list for the area is in things to do in Orlando at night.

Does Kissimmee have a beach?

No, Kissimmee is inland and has no ocean beach. The closest water park to the vacation home area is Island H2O Water Park, next to Margaritaville Resort Orlando. The 2026 season runs from March 6 to October 31, according to the resort, and one-day tickets start at $39.50 plus tax and an online fee. The 2027 dates have not been published yet.

When is the Silver Spurs Rodeo in Kissimmee?

The Silver Spurs Rodeo is held every year on the third weekend of February, with a second edition in June. A nonprofit club from Osceola County has kept it going for more than 80 years, and it draws contestants from the professional PRCA circuit. The organizers say it is the biggest rodeo east of the Mississippi. The 2027 dates posted on the official site are:

  • Monster Bulls: Saturday, February 13, 2027, at 7:30 PM.
  • 158th Silver Spurs Rodeo: Thursday, February 18, through Sunday, February 21, 2027.
  • 159th Silver Spurs Rodeo: Friday, June 4, and Saturday, June 5, 2027.

February tickets go on sale in November 2026 and June tickets in March 2027. Prices have not been announced. The rodeo is indoors at the Silver Spurs Arena, inside Osceola Heritage Park, which helps on a hot June night. The organizers pitch the June edition as a school’s-out summer event.

Where to eat and shop in Kissimmee?

Most restaurants, souvenir shops and grocery stores line US 192, also called Irlo Bronson Memorial Highway, the road that runs through Kissimmee’s tourist area and past many vacation home resorts. For something calmer, Market Street in Celebration and the Promenade at Sunset Walk are good for dinner and a walk.

In practice: save Kissimmee for the rest day between two park days. Do Gatorland or an airboat in the morning, when it is cooler, head back to the pool after lunch and, if it is a Saturday, get to Old Town before 8 PM to grab a spot for the 8:30 PM cruise, with Fun Spot right next door for the teens.
