Visiting Orlando pregnant: what can you do at the parks?

Quick answer

Most people with an uncomplicated pregnancy can visit Orlando once their OB clears the trip. ACOG calls mid-pregnancy, 14 to 28 weeks, the best time to travel. At the parks, coasters and simulators carry an expectant mother warning, but shows and gentle rides such as Pirates of the Caribbean and Frozen Ever After do not.

Plenty of families book Orlando and then find out a baby is on the way. Others plan a babymoon or one last big trip before the due date. Either way, the first stop is your OB’s office. This guide pulls together what the parks, airlines and health agencies publish, but it is not medical advice.

Is it safe to go to Disney World while pregnant?

For most uncomplicated pregnancies, yes, and many expectant moms go. Neither Disney nor Universal bars pregnant guests from the parks. What they do have is a list of rides with an expectant mother warning, posted on each attraction’s official page and on the sign at its entrance.

ACOG, the national group of OB-GYNs, says travel is usually safe until close to your due date as long as you have no pregnancy complications. The CDC lists situations where travel is not advised, including preeclampsia, vaginal bleeding, preterm labor and ruptured membranes. Only your doctor can tell you which group you are in.

Is it worth it? If your OB says go, a slower trip with shows, gentle rides, good food and long breaks can be a very good one.

When is the best time in pregnancy to visit Orlando?

ACOG says the best window is mid-pregnancy, 14 to 28 weeks. By then energy usually returns, morning sickness eases and getting around is still easy. After 28 weeks, sitting for long stretches gets harder and the chance of going into labor rises.

ACOG also suggests a prenatal checkup 4 to 6 weeks before you leave to confirm your due date and go over warning signs. Bring a copy of your health record and your insurance card. If you need care in Orlando, the staff will want to know how far along you are.

How late in pregnancy can you fly to Orlando?

It depends on the airline. The CDC and ACOG say many airlines let you fly within the US until about 36 weeks, and international cutoffs tend to be earlier. Two official policies we checked in October 2026:

AirlineWhat the official page says
DeltaNo restrictions for pregnant travelers and no medical certificate required. Suggests checking with your doctor if you fly after your eighth month.
JetBlueIf you expect to deliver within 7 days, you need a doctor’s note dated within 72 hours of departure stating you are fit to fly and that your due date is after your last flight.

American, Southwest, United and others set their own rules. Check your airline’s page before booking, and check the return flight too, since your weeks are counted on the day you fly.

On the plane, ACOG recommends an aisle seat, the seat belt low on your hips under your belly, walking a few times and drinking water. Trips over 4 hours raise the risk of blood clots, and pregnancy adds to it. That applies to a long drive down I-75 or I-95 too: stop often, stretch and share the driving. Ask your OB about compression stockings.

Which Disney World rides can’t you ride while pregnant?

The ones whose official page says “Expectant mothers should not ride.” When we checked every Walt Disney World attraction page in October 2026, that line appeared on these:

ParkRides with an expectant mother warning
Magic KingdomSpace Mountain, Big Thunder Mountain Railroad, Seven Dwarfs Mine Train, TRON Lightcycle / Run, Tiana’s Bayou Adventure, The Barnstormer, Tomorrowland Speedway
EPCOTGuardians of the Galaxy: Cosmic Rewind, Mission: SPACE, Test Track
Hollywood StudiosStar Wars: Rise of the Resistance, Millennium Falcon: Smugglers Run, Rock ‘n’ Roller Coaster Starring The Muppets, Slinky Dog Dash, Star Tours, The Twilight Zone Tower of Terror
Animal KingdomAvatar Flight of Passage, Expedition Everest, Kali River Rapids, Kilimanjaro Safaris

Three catch people off guard: The Barnstormer, Goofy’s kiddie coaster; Tomorrowland Speedway, the little cars; and Kilimanjaro Safaris, a truck ride over bumpy roads. The list changes as rides open and close, so read the sign at the entrance.

What about Universal and Epic Universe?

Universal uses a crossed out pregnant figure with the line “Do not ride if you are an expectant mother,” shown in its official safety guide and on each attraction’s warning sign. In the current guide it appears on every coaster and simulator, and also on family rides such as E.T. Adventure, The Cat in the Hat, Flight of the Hippogriff, Trolls Trollercoaster and Yoshi’s Adventure. At Epic Universe it covers Stardust Racers, Mario Kart: Bowser’s Challenge, Harry Potter and the Battle at the Ministry and Monsters Unchained, among others.

Universal’s guide puts it plainly: the park does not know your condition. If you think a ride could put your health at risk, skip it.

What can you do in Orlando while pregnant?

A lot. These attractions did not carry the expectant mother warning on the official pages and guides we checked in October 2026:

  • Magic Kingdom: “it’s a small world,” Pirates of the Caribbean, Haunted Mansion, Peter Pan’s Flight and the PeopleMover.
  • EPCOT: Frozen Ever After, Remy’s Ratatouille Adventure, Spaceship Earth and Living with the Land. Soarin’ Around the World only cautions about heights and motion sickness.
  • Hollywood Studios and Animal Kingdom: Mickey & Minnie’s Runaway Railway, Toy Story Mania (motion sickness caution), Na’vi River Journey and the live shows.
  • Universal: Hogwarts Express, Kang & Kodos’ Twirl ‘n’ Hurl, Illumination’s Villain-Con Minion Blast, Epic Universe’s Constellation Carousel, and shows such as The Bourne Stuntacular and Le Cirque Arcanus.

No pregnancy warning does not mean no warning at all. Read the whole sign, since some rides flag motion sickness, strobe lights or fog.

Every Disney and Universal theme park has a First Aid station, and Universal’s guide says its stations are staffed by registered nurses and paramedics. To find the closest ER to your rental, see the nearest hospital to your Orlando vacation home.

How do you handle Orlando heat while pregnant?

Plan more breaks than usual. The CDC explains that pregnancy makes it harder for your body to cool down and easier to get dehydrated, and that a high core temperature during pregnancy has been linked to complications.

MonthAverage high in Orlando
January72 °F (22 °C)
April84 °F (29 °C)
July92 °F (33 °C)
October85 °F (29 °C)

The CDC recommends drinking water, staying in air conditioning during the hottest hours, saving exertion for early morning or evening, and resting. Dizziness, headache, nausea, cramps or contractions are reasons to get care. Disney’s park rules allow coolers up to 24 x 15 x 18 inches, with no loose or dry ice and no glass, so you can bring water and snacks. More tips in how to avoid heat exhaustion at the parks.

Is there Zika or dengue in Orlando?

No Zika. The Florida Department of Health report for September 20 to 26, 2026 shows no locally acquired Zika cases in Florida this year, and the CDC says there is no local Zika transmission in the continental US.

Dengue is present but concentrated. Florida has recorded 252 locally acquired dengue cases in 2026, 223 of them in Hillsborough County, the Tampa area. Orange County, home to Orlando, had 3 and is under a mosquito-borne illness alert, according to the same report. Polk County, where Davenport is, had 1 and is under an advisory. Osceola County, home to Kissimmee, had no local cases and is under neither.

The practical answer is repellent. The CDC says EPA-registered repellents, such as those with DEET, picaridin or IR3535, are safe during pregnancy when used as directed. More in alligators, lightning and mosquitoes in Orlando.

Does travel insurance cover pregnancy?

Not always, so check before you go. The CDC warns that many health plans do not cover pregnancy or newborn complications abroad, and suggests travel health insurance that includes both. If you live in the US, ACOG suggests bringing your insurance information whenever you travel far from home, and it is worth calling your insurer to ask how out of town care works. If you are coming from abroad, read the pregnancy clause and week limit in your policy. We cover what to look for in travel medical insurance for Orlando.

Why does a vacation home help when you’re pregnant?

Because it makes the rest the CDC recommends easy to fit in. Stay close to the parks and you can go early, come back for lunch, nap in the afternoon and head out again once it cools off. A kitchen lets you eat on your own schedule, and a private pool becomes the afternoon plan. If stairs wear you out, look for a home with a ground floor bedroom.

In practice: do the busiest park first thing in the morning with whoever wants the coasters, and plan a show or the gentle rides for yourself in the meantime. After lunch everyone heads back to the house, and the evening goes to fireworks or Disney Springs.

To pick a base, browse vacation homes near Disney and homes with a private pool.
