What is included in an Orlando vacation rental?

Quick answer

Professionally managed Orlando vacation homes usually include bed linens, bath towels, a fully equipped kitchen, a washer and dryer, Wi-Fi and a starter kit of toilet paper and soap. Pool heat, mid-stay cleaning and full-size cribs are usually extra. Pool towels and grills vary by home, so ask before you book.

A vacation home is not a hotel, and the gap shows up in small things: who restocks the toilet paper, whether there are pool towels, who pays for the propane. To answer, we read the published policies of property managers in the area and the guest rules of two resort communities.

What is usually included, and what costs extra?

The basics for living in the house are usually included: linens, bath towels, a stocked kitchen and a washer and dryer. Services that cost the manager money each day, such as heating the pool or cleaning mid-stay, are usually extra.

The table shows market practice, not what a specific home has. At Orlando Best Place, each home’s page lists that home’s amenities, grouped as pool and spa, kitchen, babies and kids, laundry, internet and outdoor. If something is not on the list, ask before you book.

Are towels and bed linens included?

Yes. Bed linens and bath towels are included at all three managers we checked, so there is no need to pack them.

What you usually do not get is daily housekeeping. Florida Vacation Homes, for example, offers cleaning during your stay for an additional charge, from a daily service to a single mid-stay visit. On longer trips, most guests simply run the towels through the washer.

Do vacation homes provide pool towels?

Not always, so check. One manager in the area supplies bath towels but recommends bringing beach towels for the pool deck. Others do not mention pool towels in their published rules.

If the home does not have them, grab a few beach towels on your first grocery run. They work for the water parks too.

Is the kitchen fully stocked?

The equipment is, the pantry is not. Two managers list a refrigerator, freezer, oven, range, microwave, dishwasher, toaster, coffee maker, blender, cookware, dishes, glasses and utensils as standard.

Food, cooking oil, spices and coffee are on you. If you rely on a specific appliance, such as an air fryer, a slow cooker or a particular coffee maker, ask before booking, because it is not on those standard lists. Plan your first stop with grocery stores near Orlando vacation rentals.

Are vacation homes stocked with toilet paper and dish soap?

You get a starter kit, sized for arrival day, not for the whole week. Champions Gate Rentals provides starter shampoo, conditioner, body wash, soap, toilet paper and trash bags. Florida Vacation Homes provides starter soap, toilet paper and trash bags. Both say restocking is the guest’s job once those run out. Debbie’s Villas, a UK company with homes in the area, promises at least one toilet roll on arrival.

Put toilet paper, paper towels, dish soap, dishwasher pods and laundry detergent on the first grocery list.

Is there a washer and dryer?

In most homes, yes, inside the house. Champions Gate Rentals lists a full-size washer and dryer, and Debbie’s Villas also provides an iron, an ironing board and hair dryers. Confirm the hair dryer for each home if you would rather not pack one.

Do vacation homes have good Wi-Fi and streaming?

Wi-Fi is standard. Florida Vacation Homes, for instance, sends the wireless code with your arrival instructions. If someone needs to work or game online, ask about the connection speed before you book.

TVs are common and many are smart TVs, but subscriptions are not part of the deal. Debbie’s Villas tells guests to bring their own streaming logins. Sign in with your Netflix or Disney+ account and log out of everything on the last day.

Do vacation homes provide cribs and high chairs?

Many do, but the type and cost vary. At Florida Vacation Homes, most homes offer a complimentary Pack ‘n Play, high chair and stroller, while full-size cribs and double strollers are rented for a fee. British guests asking for a “cot” mean the same thing.

Check the crib when you arrive. The U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission says to place babies on their backs, in a crib or play yard that meets federal requirements, with nothing but a fitted sheet: no pillows or blankets. More on traveling with an infant in Orlando with a baby.

Is there a BBQ grill, and is it included?

Only some homes have one, and the resort rules decide how you can use it. Where a home has a grill, the managers we read describe gas grills. Champions Gate Rentals makes guests responsible for cleaning the grill and refilling the propane, with a $50 minimum cleaning charge if a professional clean is needed. Windsor Hills has community grills by the tennis courts, where charcoal is allowed.

The National Fire Protection Association advises keeping the grill well away from the house, deck railings, eaves and branches, keeping kids and pets at least 3 feet away, and letting coals cool completely before putting them in a metal container. Each community’s rules are in Orlando vacation home resort rules.

Is pool heat included, and can you use the clubhouse?

A private pool comes with homes that have one, but heating it is usually extra and charged per day. Two managers note that heaters run on timers and lose effectiveness when it drops below 55 °F (13 °C). Costs and the months when it is worth paying are in Orlando pool heat cost.

The clubhouse, the shared area with the resort pool, gym and sometimes a water park, follows each community’s rules. At Windsor Hills, every guest needs a free wristband to use the community pool, hot tub and water park. At Reunion, the club membership with the water park carries a daily fee. If the community charges a resort fee, it belongs with the other Orlando vacation rental fees and taxes.

How many cars can you park?

It depends on the home, and the listing does not always say. If two families are driving down in separate cars, ask before you book.

The community has its own rules too. At the Retreat at ChampionsGate, every driver must be registered to get through the gatehouse, and street parking is allowed only with tires within 12 inches of the curb, never on grass or sidewalks. RVs and trailers may stop only for up to 4 hours to load or unload. How arrival works is in vacation rental check-in in Orlando.

Do international visitors need a plug adapter?

Visitors from outside North America usually do. According to Visit Florida, the state’s official tourism marketing body, North and Central America run on 100 to 120 volts, while Europe and most other regions use 220 to 240 volts.

An adapter only changes the plug shape. If a device is dual voltage, with something like 110-240 V on the label, the adapter is enough, and Visit Florida notes that most modern electronics handle the conversion themselves. Hair dryers, curling irons and steamers are the items that most often need a converter. Using the home’s hair dryer, when there is one, is often simpler.

In practice: before paying, send the manager five questions in writing: are pool towels provided, is there a Pack ‘n Play and high chair, does the grill work and who pays for propane, what does pool heat cost, and how many cars fit in the driveway. A written answer saves surprises on arrival day.
