Is Legoland Florida worth the drive from Orlando?

Quick answer

Yes, if your kids are 2 to 12, the age range Legoland Florida says it is built for. The park is in Winter Haven, roughly 25 to 30 minutes from Davenport vacation homes and about 50 from Kissimmee without traffic. In October 2026, kids tickets started at $39 and car parking at $35 plus tax.

Legoland Florida is not in Orlando. It sits in Winter Haven, south of the Disney area, so whether it fits your trip depends a lot on where your vacation home is. Below are the real drive times, what each ticket covers and who gets the most out of the day. We checked every price and date on Legoland’s official channels in October 2026, and all of them can change.

How far is Legoland Florida from Orlando?

Legoland Florida is about 25 to 30 minutes from vacation homes in Davenport and about 50 minutes from Kissimmee, without traffic. The park itself says it is 45 minutes from the Orlando theme parks and about 55 miles from Orlando International Airport (MCO).

The official route from Orlando is I-4 West to exit 55, US-27 South, which is the Davenport exit. Turn right at Cypress Gardens Boulevard (State Road 540), and the park is four miles down on the left. The address is One LEGOLAND Way, Winter Haven. If your GPS cannot find it, Legoland suggests 6000 Cypress Gardens Boulevard instead.

Starting fromApproximate distanceTime without traffic
Davenport, on US-27 south of I-415 to 21 mi25 to 30 min
ChampionsGate26 miabout 40 min
Kissimmee, on US-19232 miabout 50 min
Magic Kingdom, for comparison38 miabout 1 hour

Source: driving route calculated on OpenStreetMap in October 2026. Actual time depends on I-4 traffic, which is usually heaviest in the morning and late afternoon.

If you are driving down from Atlanta or Charlotte, note that Davenport sits right where I-4 meets US-27, so from a home there Legoland is about half an hour away, only a little longer than the drive to Disney. From a home on US-192 in Kissimmee it is close to 50 minutes, more than twice the Disney drive. We compare the areas in where to stay in Orlando.

What age is Legoland Florida best for?

Legoland Florida says the park is built for kids ages 2 to 12. Adults without kids are welcome, but the park itself says teens looking for big thrill rides may not find what they want.

Height matters more than age. Many rides have no minimum, and the most popular ones need 36 to 42 inches. Under 48 inches, a lot of rides require a companion who is at least 13 or 14, depending on the ride.

Minimum heightExamples
NoneMINILAND USA, Pirate River Quest, LEGO NINJAGO The Ride (under 48 in. with a companion)
36 in.Galacticoaster and Merlin’s Challenge, both with a companion under 48 in.
40 in.The Dragon and Unikitty’s Disco Drop, with a companion under 48 in.

Kids 1 and under get in free, and everyone 2 and up needs a ticket. If one child is tall enough and a sibling is not, use Child Swap: the whole family waits together, one parent rides with the older child, then the parents switch without lining up again. More ideas for this age are in Orlando with toddlers.

How much are Legoland Florida tickets?

In October 2026, a 1-day ticket started at $39 for kids and $79 for adults, with SEA LIFE Florida Aquarium included. These are “starting from” prices that vary by date, and Legoland says the offer runs through November 2, 2026.

A few rules apply to all of them. A kids ticket requires at least one adult ticket. Parking and Peppa Pig Theme Park are not included. On 2-day tickets, the second visit must happen within 3 days of the first scan. Seasonal events are included with regular admission. The resort is cashless, so bring a card.

Do the water park and Peppa Pig Theme Park cost extra?

Yes. Neither is in the basic ticket. The water park comes with the Multi-Park tickets, and Peppa Pig Theme Park has its own ticket.

Legoland Water Park. It is inside the theme park, so you enter Legoland first. If you only bought the theme park, you can add the water park on the day for $30 plus tax per person at the water park windows. It is seasonal. In 2026 it reopened on February 14, ran daily from May 23 to August 30 and closes for the season on November 1. Thunderstorms and lightning close the water attractions too. Other options are in Orlando water parks.

Peppa Pig Theme Park. This is a separate park next to Legoland, designed for preschoolers. To do both in one day, there is a 1-Day Multi-Park Ticket covering Peppa Pig, Legoland and SEA LIFE, sold only on the Peppa Pig website. It does not include the water park. Visiting on different days means two separate tickets. Peppa Pig usually opens 10 a.m. to 4 p.m., daily from March through August 10, and closes on some Tuesdays the rest of the year.

How much is parking and what are Legoland’s hours?

Car parking starts at $35 plus tax a day, and the theme park is typically open 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. on weekdays. Spots closer to the entrance cost more, and Legoland’s own pages list different prices for them, so check when you buy. Your parking stub gets you back in the same day. How that compares with Disney and Universal is in Disney and Universal parking.

The official calendar shows a later close on weekends, around 6 p.m., and longer hours on event days. The theme park is closed on select Wednesdays during the year. Parking booths open 30 to 45 minutes before the park. Check the calendar before you leave the house.

What seasonal events does Legoland Florida have?

The two big ones are Brick or Treat for Halloween and the Christmas Bricktacular for the holidays, and both are included with regular admission.

  • Brick or Treat Monster Party. The remaining 2026 dates are October 9, 10, 11, 16, 17, 18, 23, 24, 25, 30 and 31, plus November 1. On those days the park is open 10 a.m. to 8 p.m., with trick-or-treating, shows and a drone show at night.
  • LEGOLAND Christmas Bricktacular. Select dates from November 21, 2026 to January 3, 2027, with the park open 10 a.m. to 7 p.m. on event days.
  • Kids’ New Year’s Eve. A kid-friendly countdown on December 31.
  • Red, White & BOOM! A Fourth of July event with fireworks. The 2027 date had not been published yet.

What happens if it rains at Legoland?

The park stays open rain or shine, and several rides are indoors. Those include Galacticoaster, an indoor family coaster, LEGO NINJAGO The Ride and the DUPLO Valley Schoolhouse. If weather closes part of the park for an extended time, Legoland may activate its Guest Experience Promise, which lets you come back once more on the same ticket within a year, subject to blockout dates. You pay for parking again on the return visit.

In practice: leave the house early enough to reach the parking booths as they open, ride the outdoor attractions first and save the indoor ones for the afternoon, when summer storms usually roll in. From a Davenport home, you can be back in your own pool before dinner without crossing Orlando.

So, is Legoland Florida worth it?

Yes for families with kids 2 to 12, especially LEGO fans who are still too short for the bigger rides at Disney and Universal. For teens who want serious thrills, Legoland itself says it may not be the right park.

It makes the most sense when:

  • you are staying in Davenport or ChampionsGate, on the Winter Haven side of the area;
  • your trip is a week or longer, and a day away from the big parks gives everyone a break;
  • your kids are young and wear out quickly in long lines and long walks.

It is harder to justify when:

  • the trip is short and every day is already spoken for at Disney and Universal;
  • you are staying in Kissimmee or farther north and do not want close to two hours of round-trip driving;
  • your kids are already past 12.

Legoland recommends at least one full day, so treat it as a park day, not a half-day outing. Other ideas are in day trips from Orlando. If Legoland is high on your list, look at the Davenport area resorts when you pick your home.
