In Orlando, Halloween is a season, not a single night. The parks start their Halloween events in August and keep them going until November 1. If you are traveling with kids, the question that matters most is which events are built for children and which are built to scare grown-ups. Every date below was checked on the official pages in October 2026.
Which Orlando theme parks have Halloween events in 2026?
Disney, Universal, SeaWorld and Legoland all have Halloween events in 2026. Three of them are nighttime events with a separate ticket. The other two are included with regular park admission.

There is more outside the parks. At Disney Springs, Jock Lindsey’s Hangar Bar gets a Halloween makeover with a themed menu from August 11 to November 9, 2026. According to Visit Orlando, Gatorland runs Gators, Ghosts & Goblins during the day on the weekends of October 10 and 11, 17 and 18, and 24 and 25, with trick-or-treating and a costume parade.
What about Epic Universe? In Universal’s official 2026 announcements, the Halloween event takes place at Universal Studios Florida. We did not find a Halloween event announced for Epic Universe.
Which Orlando Halloween events are kid friendly and which are scary?
The short version: the daytime events and the Disney party are for kids, and the nighttime events at Universal and SeaWorld are made to scare. Universal itself warns that Halloween Horror Nights may be too intense for young children and is not recommended for kids under 13. SeaWorld describes Howl-O-Scream as designed for mature audiences, with blood, gore and violence.
Mickey’s Not-So-Scary Halloween Party, in short. This is Disney’s nighttime party at Magic Kingdom, with characters in costume, trick-or-treating around the park, a parade and Halloween fireworks. Ticket holders can enter as early as 4 p.m., and the party ticket does not require a park ticket or a park reservation. Every 2026 date has sold out. The full breakdown is in is Mickey’s Not So Scary Halloween Party worth it?.
Halloween Horror Nights, in short. This is Universal’s horror event, with 10 haunted houses in 2026, outdoor scare zones and live shows. It runs Wednesdays through Sundays, plus Monday, October 12, through November 1. For teens and adults who love a scare, we cover it in is Halloween Horror Nights worth it?.
For younger kids, SeaWorld’s Spooktacular and Legoland’s Brick-or-Treat both have trick-or-treat trails during park hours. At Spooktacular, the candy comes with the purchase of a reusable bag at the park.
Can you wear a costume to the Orlando theme parks?
It depends on the park, the event and the age of the guest. At Disney, outside the parties, guests 14 and older cannot wear costumes or masks. Universal allows costumes during the day within limits, but bans them at Halloween Horror Nights.
| Where | Kids | Teens and adults |
|---|---|---|
| Disney parks, regular day | Costumes OK through age 13; masks only if the eyes can be fully seen | No costumes and no masks for ages 14 and up |
| Mickey’s Not-So-Scary Halloween Party | Costumes OK; masks only if the eyes can be fully seen | Costumes OK, but no masks, nothing that drags on the ground, capes no longer than the waist, nothing that looks like a weapon |
| Universal, regular day | No costume masks, veils or long trains; face paint on no more than half the face | Same rules |
| Halloween Horror Nights | No costumes and no costume masks | No costumes and no costume masks |
| SeaWorld Spooktacular | Costumes OK; face paint only by park artists | Costumes OK; no masks or hoods for ages 13 and up |
| Howl-O-Scream | No costumes | No costumes; Halloween-themed clothing and accessories are fine |
| Legoland Brick-or-Treat | Costumes OK, no full face masks | Same rules; nothing gory or violent |
At Disney, adults dressed as a character cannot pose for photos or sign autographs for other guests. At Universal, costumes go through X-ray screening and cannot be wider than 28 inches or taller than 80 inches, and some rides may ask you to remove parts of a costume. Universal makes one exception inside Halloween Horror Nights: the Premium Scream Night events, which have their own costume rules.
Can kids go trick-or-treating at a vacation home resort?
It depends on the resort, and the rules change from one community to the next. Before you plan a trick-or-treat route through the streets, ask the company managing your rental what the resort allows that night.
In 2026, October 31 falls on a Saturday. According to the U.S. Naval Observatory, the sun sets in Orlando at 6:41 p.m. that day, and it is fully dark by 7:05 p.m. Early the next morning, November 1, daylight saving time ends and clocks go back one hour, per NIST.
The Florida Department of Highway Safety and Motor Vehicles (FLHSMV) suggests, for Halloween night:
- light-colored costumes, with reflective tape on the costume and the treat bag;
- costumes that fit well and sturdy shoes, so kids do not trip;
- masks that do not block vision or hearing;
- sidewalks and crosswalks, with the route planned before you head out.
If you are driving that evening, the same agency asks drivers to stay alert and slow down in neighborhoods, since kids in costume may not see or hear cars well.
In practice: if the kids have their hearts set on trick-or-treating, the park is the surest bet. SeaWorld’s Spooktacular and Legoland’s Brick-or-Treat are included with regular admission. At the house, keep a bag of candy ready and check with your property manager before going door to door.
What is the weather like in Orlando at Halloween?
October is still warm, but it starts to dry out. Based on NOAA’s 1991 to 2020 climate normals for Orlando International Airport, the average high in October is 85 °F (29 °C) and the average low is 66 °F (19 °C). Rainfall drops to about 3.5 inches for the month, a little over half of September’s 6.4 inches, and only about 5 days get at least a tenth of an inch.
That matters when you pick a costume. For a full day at the park, a light outfit works better than a plush one.
The Atlantic hurricane season runs through November 30, according to the National Hurricane Center, and most activity happens between mid-August and mid-October. Halloween Horror Nights runs rain or shine, with no refunds. The whole month is covered in what is Orlando like in October, and the real storm risk in Orlando hurricane season.
Are the parks crowded and are prices higher at Halloween?
October is not a school vacation month in the U.S., but a few dates draw more people. Disney and Universal do not publish daily attendance, so the calendar is the best guide.
- Monday, October 12, 2026. It is Columbus Day, a federal holiday, and public schools in Orange County, where Orlando is, have the day off. Universal added that Monday to the Halloween Horror Nights calendar.
- October weekends. Legoland’s Brick-or-Treat and the Gatorland event happen on weekends.
- Saturday, October 31. It is the last night of the Disney party and of Howl-O-Scream.
If you drive to Universal, note that free self-parking after 6 p.m. is not valid on Halloween Horror Nights event nights. At Disney, the EPCOT International Food and Wine Festival runs from August 27 to November 21, 2026, so EPCOT has its own seasonal draw during this period.
For the house, the fair comparison is with the rest of the year. The median nightly price of Orlando Best Place homes over the next 12 months, before cleaning and taxes, is $162. See how October compares to other months in Orlando peak and off season, and pick your park days with the least crowded times at the Orlando parks.
