What is Orlando like in February? Weather, crowds and prices

February is when Orlando’s short winter starts to fade. Afternoons warm up, rain stays low, and the calendar has one big pinch point for American families: Presidents’ Day weekend and the mid-winter school breaks that come with it.

What is the weather like in Orlando in February?

Mild and dry, with comfortable afternoons and cool nights. Based on NOAA’s 1991 to 2020 climate normals for Orlando International Airport, the average February high is 75 °F (24 °C) and the average low is 52 °F (11 °C). Day and night together average 64 °F (18 °C).

The month warms up as it goes. The National Weather Service office in Melbourne, which covers Orlando, lists a normal high of 73 °F and low of 51 °F on February 1. By February 28 the normals are 77 °F and 54 °F.

February is Orlando’s second driest month, behind only November. The same NOAA data show that a typical February has:

• about 9 days with a high above 80 °F (27 °C);
• about 10 nights with a low below 50 °F (10 °C);
• 2 or 3 nights with a low below 40 °F (4 °C);
• about 4 days with at least a tenth of an inch of rain.

The normals show no days at 90 °F (32 °C) or above in February.

Cold fronts still happen

A freeze is rare. NOAA averages 0.2 nights below 32 °F per February, or roughly one night every five years. It does happen, though. On February 1, 2026, the airport recorded a low of 24 °F (-4 °C) and a high of only 46 °F (8 °C), both the coldest on record for that date, according to the National Weather Service. The all-time February record low is 19 °F (-7 °C), set on February 7, 1895. The record high is 90 °F (32 °C).

If you live up North, February in Orlando can feel like spring. That is a big part of why snowbirds spend the winter in Florida. Just pack for a few cool evenings.

Is February a good time to visit Orlando?

For long park days without summer heat, February is one of the most comfortable months of the year. Afternoons sit in the mid 70s and rain is light. By NOAA’s count, July has about three times as many rainy days.

Three things to keep in mind:

• Cool evenings. Fireworks and nighttime shows start after dark, when temperatures have already dropped.
• Unheated pools get cold. With average lows of 52 °F, pool water loses heat overnight.
• Water parks. Disney’s ticket terms say its water parks are subject to refurbishment, seasonal and weather closures. Check the calendar before paying for a ticket that includes one.

If you are choosing between winter months, Orlando in January is a few degrees colder.

How crowded is Disney World in February?

It depends on the week. Most of February is a regular school month in the US, but one long weekend and a few breaks bring families in.

Presidents’ Day weekend: February 13 to 15, 2027

Washington’s Birthday, better known as Presidents’ Day, is a federal holiday that falls on Monday, February 15, 2027, according to the U.S. Office of Personnel Management. Orange County Public Schools, the district that includes Orlando, is closed that day. Saturday the 13th, Valentine’s Day on Sunday the 14th and Monday the 15th make a three-day weekend for many families.

Mid-winter break: February 15 to 19, 2027

Some school districts in the Northeast take the whole week off. New York City public schools have Midwinter Recess from Monday, February 15, to Friday, February 19, 2027. If your district has a February break, expect to share the parks with families on the same schedule.

British and Canadian visitors

In the UK, February half-term dates vary by area. GOV.UK points families to their local council’s website for exact dates. Check yours before booking flights.

Carnival week from Brazil

Brazilian families also travel in February. Ash Wednesday 2027 is February 10, per the U.S. Naval Observatory, so Brazil’s Carnival runs from Saturday, February 6, to Wednesday, February 10.

In practice: if your dates are flexible, travel outside February 13 to 19. If Presidents’ Day weekend is your only option, do not save your must-do park for Monday the 15th, when Orlando’s public schools are also closed. Plan it for a weekday before the long weekend and keep the 15th for a slower day at the house and pool.

Things to do in Orlando on Presidents’ Day weekend and in February

February has a festival at almost every major park, and cool weather makes outdoor plans easier.

EPCOT International Festival of the Arts. Disney runs it from January 15 to March 1, 2027, with art displays, performances and food studios around the park. All of February falls inside the festival.

Mardi Gras at Universal. Universal Orlando announced Universal Mardi Gras: International Flavors of Carnaval at Universal Studios Florida from February 6 to March 27, 2027, with a parade, beads, live music and food for purchase from around the world.

SeaWorld Orlando. SeaWorld’s 2027 calendar lists the Seven Seas Food Festival on select dates from February to May, with a Mardi Gras celebration on February 9 as part of it.

Rodeo in Kissimmee. The Silver Spurs Rodeo at Silver Spurs Arena in Osceola Heritage Park has shows from February 18 to 21, 2027. On Saturday, February 13, the same arena hosts Monster Bulls.

Disney Princess Half Marathon Weekend. The 2027 edition runs from February 25 to March 1, with a 5K, a 10K and the half marathon. As of October 2026, runDisney listed the races as sold out.

Manatees at Blue Spring. Blue Spring State Park, north of Orlando, is a winter refuge for manatees. The St. Johns River Water Management District says manatee season runs roughly from mid-November through March, and several hundred can be seen from the overlooks on cold days. The spring is closed to swimming during that period.

What to pack for Orlando in February

Pack layers. A day can start near 52 °F, reach 75 °F in the afternoon and cool off again after sunset.

• A light jacket or hoodie for mornings and evenings.
• A warmer jacket for the occasional cold front.
• Shorts and long pants. On an 80 °F afternoon, jeans feel heavy.
• Comfortable closed shoes for park days.
• Sunscreen and sunglasses. The Florida sun is strong even when the air is cool.
• Swimsuits, if your rental has a heated pool.
