Is Mickey's Very Merry Christmas Party worth it?

From November through December, Magic Kingdom runs on two schedules. By day it is the regular park with holiday decorations. On select nights it closes early to day guests and reopens as a party for people holding a separate ticket. Everything below comes from official Disney pages, checked in October 2026.

What is Mickey’s Very Merry Christmas Party?

It is Magic Kingdom’s holiday party, a separately ticketed event on select nights in November and December. For five hours the park is open only to party guests, with a parade, fireworks and stage shows you will not see on a regular day.

The ticket is good for one specific date and does not require a regular park ticket or a park reservation that day. So the party can be an extra evening on your trip without using up one of your theme park days.

What are the 2026 Disney World Christmas party dates?

There are 25 party nights, from November 8 to December 22, 2026. None fall on a Saturday, and the last one is a Tuesday, three days before Christmas.

A few dates line up with school breaks. November 24, 25 and 27 fall during Thanksgiving week, when Orange County Public Schools in Orlando are off November 23 to 27. December 22 lands inside winter break, which for Orange County runs December 21 to January 1. If your kids get out of school on Friday, December 18, the last nights you can catch are December 20 and 22.

How much are Mickey’s Very Merry Christmas Party tickets?

Tickets cost $189 to $229 per person plus tax, depending on the night. Kids ages 3 to 9 get $10 off. Annual Passholders and Disney Vacation Club Members save $10 on select nights from November 8 to 20 and from November 29 to December 3.

Disney says tickets are limited and may sell out before the day of the event. Do not plan on buying at the gate. The exact price for each night shows up at checkout on Disney’s site.

Budget for parking too, since it is not included: standard theme park parking at Disney World is $35 per car per day, tax included. Dinner reservations and the fireworks dessert parties are also extra, and both require a party ticket for the same night.

What is included with the party ticket?

The ticket covers the party-only entertainment, holiday cookies and drinks, and the attractions that are open. According to Disney, the 2026 party includes:

• Mickey’s Once Upon a Christmastime Parade, with toy soldiers, dancing gingerbread men, Disney characters and Santa Claus.
• Minnie’s Wonderful Christmastime Fireworks, hosted by Minnie and visible from most of the park.
• Mickey’s Most Merriest Celebration, a stage show at Cinderella Castle.
• “Snowfall” on Main Street, U.S.A.
• Cookies and hot and cold holiday drinks at marked spots around the park, at no extra charge.
• Characters in holiday outfits, the Frozen Holiday Surprise at the castle, Santa at Santa’s Christmas Carnival in Storybook Circus, and the Club Tinsel dance party in Tomorrowland.
• Holiday overlays on Space Mountain, Tomorrowland Speedway, Mad Tea Party and Monsters Inc. Laugh Floor, plus classics like Pirates of the Caribbean, Haunted Mansion and Seven Dwarfs Mine Train.

The parade, fireworks and shows can be canceled for weather, and Disney notes that admission does not guarantee access to any specific attraction. Specialty food and party merchandise at the Emporium cost extra, and you need your party wristband to buy the merchandise.

What time does Magic Kingdom close on party nights?

On party nights, Magic Kingdom closes at 6 p.m. for regular day guests, according to planDisney, Disney’s own Q&A panel. Party ticket holders can enter from 4 p.m., and the party runs 7 p.m. to midnight.

That shapes your plan in two ways:

• If you are going to the party, you do not need a regular ticket that day. Spend the morning at the house or by the pool and arrive at 4 p.m., with three hours in the park before the party starts.
• If you are not going, avoid booking your Magic Kingdom day on a date from the table, unless a day that ends at 6 p.m. works for your group. Without the nighttime fireworks, many families feel the day was cut short.

Mickey’s Very Merry Christmas Party or Jollywood Nights?

It depends on your group. Mickey’s Very Merry Christmas Party is the classic Christmas night, with the castle, a parade, fireworks and snow, and it tends to suit young kids best. Disney Jollywood Nights at Hollywood Studios has a Hollywood gala feel, more than 20 character experiences, and rides in Toy Story Land and Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge.

Is Mickey’s Very Merry Christmas Party worth it?

It is worth it if you want the Christmas parade and fireworks, which only happen on party nights, and you are fine paying a lot for one evening. It is less worth it with kids who crash early, or if you only have one day to see Magic Kingdom.

Reasons to go:

• The parade, fireworks, castle show and Main Street snowfall are not part of a regular day.
• The ticket does not use up one of your park days. Arriving at 4 p.m. gives you up to eight hours in the park.
• Cookies and drinks are included, which helps with kids.

Reasons to skip:

• It is expensive for one night, and parking is extra.
• It ends at midnight. Add the trip back and you get home well after that.
• Bad weather can cancel the parade and fireworks, the main reasons to buy the ticket.
• First timers with only one Magic Kingdom day may get more out of a regular day with longer ride hours.

Bring a jacket. Based on NOAA normals, the average low in Orlando is 58 °F (15 °C) in November and 53 °F (12 °C) in December, and the party runs through the coolest part of the day.

In practice: pick a Tuesday, Thursday or Sunday night in early December, away from Thanksgiving week and winter break. Spend the morning at the pool, eat an early lunch, leave the house around 3 p.m. and walk in at 4. Keep the next morning free with no alarm.

What is the drive back like after the party?

Getting back takes three steps before you reach the car: walk out Main Street, take the ferry or monorail to the Transportation and Ticket Center, then ride the tram to the parking lot. From a vacation home, you still have the drive to your resort.

At Magic Kingdom, parking is not at the park gate. Trams run from the lot to the Transportation and Ticket Center, and ferryboats and the monorail cross over to the entrance. Disney says the monorails serving Magic Kingdom stop one hour after the park closes. On a party night, that means around 1 a.m.

A few ideas for the trip home:

• Pick your driver and let them pace themselves. They will be behind the wheel after midnight at the end of a long day. The dessert parties serve beer and wine to guests 21 and over, so decide ahead of time who is not drinking.
• Save your parking spot. The My Disney Experience app has a free car locator at select parking areas.
• Leave a bit early if the kids are fading. Everyone exits at midnight at the same time, and heading out a little sooner eases the ferry and monorail lines.
• Get the house ready before you go. Pajamas laid out and beds turned down make a difference when you walk in carrying sleeping kids.
