What is Orlando like in April?

April sits between Orlando’s short winter and its rainy summer. Days are warm, nights are still cool and rain is light. In 2027, Easter comes early, on March 28, and that shapes the month: some spring breaks land in March, while April gets the last of them plus the school breaks that districts schedule after Easter.

What is the weather like in Orlando in April?

Warm by day, cool at night and mostly dry. Based on NOAA’s 1991 to 2020 climate normals for Orlando International Airport, the average April high is 84 °F (29 °C) and the average low is 61 °F (16 °C). Day and night together average 72 °F (22 °C).

The month heats up as it goes. The National Weather Service office in Melbourne, which covers Orlando, lists a normal high of 81 °F and low of 58 °F on April 1. By April 30 the normals are 86 °F and 63 °F.

The same NOAA data show that a typical April has:

• about 24 days with a high above 80 °F (27 °C);
• about 4 days at 90 °F (32 °C) or more;
• about 12 nights with a low below 60 °F (16 °C);
• about 4 days with at least a tenth of an inch of rain.

April also has the driest afternoons of the year. According to the Florida Climate Center at Florida State University, Orlando’s average afternoon relative humidity is 47% in April, the lowest of any month. In August it is above 60%. That is why April heat is easier to handle than summer heat.

Is April a good time to visit Orlando?

If weather is your top priority, April is one of the best months of the year in Orlando. It is warm enough for the pool, rain is still light and afternoon humidity is at its yearly low. In May, average rain climbs to 4 inches, and from June on, late afternoon storms become part of the daily routine.

Days are long, too. Per the U.S. Naval Observatory, the sun sets in Orlando at 7:43 p.m. on April 1, 2027, and at 8:00 p.m. on April 30. By the end of the month you get more than 13 hours of daylight.

The thing to watch is school break weeks. April has no single peak like Christmas week, but certain weeks bring families from specific regions all at once.

How crowded is Disney World in April?

It is busier during school break weeks and calmer in between. Per the U.S. Naval Observatory, Easter 2027 is March 28 and Good Friday is March 26. Public schools in New York City and Boston are closed on Good Friday, and Orange County Public Schools, the district that includes Orlando, has spring break from March 15 to 19, 2027.

Post-Easter breaks in April 2027

Some districts wait until April. A few examples from official 2027 calendars:

• Gwinnett County, Georgia. Public schools in this metro Atlanta county have spring break from April 5 to 9.
• Boston. Boston Public Schools close for Patriots’ Day on Monday, April 19, followed by spring recess from April 20 to 23.
• New York City. Public schools have spring recess from Thursday, April 22, to Friday, April 30.
• Orlando itself. Orange County students have no school on Friday, April 23.

If your own district has an April break, expect to share the parks with families on a similar schedule.

British and Mexican visitors

In the UK, Easter holiday dates are set locally. GOV.UK points families to their council’s website for exact dates. In Mexico, the federal school calendar has its spring recess from March 22 to April 3, 2027, so the first days of April still bring Mexican families.

In practice: among the calendars on this page, April 12 to 16, 2027 is the only full week with no break at all. If your dates are flexible, plan your must-do park days for that week. If you travel during the last week of the month, when New York is off, keep Friday the 23rd for a slower day at the house and pool, since Orlando’s own schools are closed that day.

Is the pool warm enough without heat in April?

By late April, for most people, yes. Early in the month, it depends on how much cool water your group can handle.

An outdoor pool gains heat from the sun and warm air during the day and loses it at night. What matters most is the average of day and night, and how many nights turn cool. Based on National Weather Service normals, the daily average rises from 70 °F on April 1 to 75 °F on April 30. The normal low does not reach 60 °F until April 9.

For comparison, the whole month averages 64 °F in February, when an unheated pool is cold, and 83 °F in July, when pool heat makes no difference for most people. Late April sits closer to July than to February, with 86 °F afternoons and sunshine until about 8 p.m.

Things to do in Orlando in April

The weather favors anything outdoors, and the biggest event of the month is at EPCOT.

EPCOT International Flower and Garden Festival. Disney runs it from March 10 to May 31, 2027, and it is included with EPCOT admission. Disney notes that 2027 offerings may change. runDisney Springtime Surprise Weekend. The 2027 edition runs from April 8 to 11, with a 5K, a 10K and a 10-miler. As of October 2026, runDisney listed the races as sold out.

SeaWorld Orlando. SeaWorld’s 2027 calendar lists the Seven Seas Food Festival, with food, drinks and live performances on select dates from February to May.

What to pack for Orlando in April

Pack summer clothes plus one light layer for the evening. Most afternoons pass 80 °F, and early in the month mornings can start near 58 °F.
